Begging for Money

It is nearly 2 am, and I have just about finished writing two proposals for my job. Both have narratives of about 45 pages. Both are asking the New York City government for money. It is an arduous task balancing my full-time job responsibilities, the occasionally added--but extremely time consuming--responsibility of proposal writing, and my graduate studies; nonetheless, I am happier than ever to able to juggle these chores. The key to my pleasure is that perk of so much non-profit work, that what I am doing will bring others joy and success. It is 2 am, so I might sound a bit sappy. But, it is really true. And, in case this sounds like charity work, know that it is not. This work is done by all of us in the field because there is a demand, just like in any other industry.
